Do you lay in bed reminding yourself of all the things that you SHOULD have done that day? But for some reason you did not get them done… Now you remind yourself of this failure over and over and start making yourself feel guilt, shame, or any similar damaging emotion!?
Are you torn inside about what you SHOULD do vs what you ACTUALLY do, and what you really WANT? Is this self sabotage?
Do you consistently beat yourself up with negative self talk such as “You are so stupid” or “You idiot!” or even “I can’t believe you just did that”!? This inner dialogue continues over and over making you feel horrible inside!
After a while you switch to your standard pep talk with things like “just try harder” or “come on, just be smarter next time”! Next, you muster up enough courage and energy to move past the situation, but the cloud of negative emotions sticks with you and ruins the new moments or maybe it lasts for days.
If this is you, then you are not alone! Unfortunately this pattern is the way most people live their lives. Their critical inner voice judges themselves (you), the people around them and their circumstances. It makes life miserable.
